Cleaning House and Trimming Trees...

"Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. It's not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; it's when you've had everything to do, and you've done it."  ~Lord Acton

There is something supremely satisfying about manual labor. Scrubbing floors or folding laundry, washing windows or dusting bookshelves is a great time to plan or let your mind wander. I find it difficult to organize a closet without becoming a little more mentally organized in the process. Having finally completed every task set for today, I felt more relaxed and content than I remember being in quite a while. As I was sorting through boxes of various Christmas decorations and trimmings tonight, the seasonal gloom that always shows up with the dreary weather dissipated. I soon found myself dancing and singing, wrapped in red ribbon and crystal snowflakes. Now, I think, a glass of Muscat Cannelli and truffles. Adieu.
