Election Day

I have to say that I am a little disappointed in the ugliness that recent elections have brought out - not in the politicians themselves as much as in the voters. Somewhere along the way, we have developed a complete lack of respect for dissenting opinions. I am tired of being told that if ________ is elected, then such and such will happen.  I am tired of being told that it is a black and white choice, and that because I am in a certain economic bracket or because my skin is a certain color or I attend a certain church that I'm supposed to vote a certain way. If I hear one more time that because a person voted for this or that candidate, (s)he is not a REAL Christian, I may scream.
I think that we should be a little less worried about the newly elected, and a little more worried about the people that they will lead. The wonderful Balance of Power that makes this country what it is eliminates any real need to vote out of fear. We are electing officials, all of whom have term limits. Nothing is so permanent that it cannot be changed. This country is set up so that four hundred million people can be governed with no one in charge. No ONE can mess up things so badly that they can't be fixed. I voted my faith and my heart - as did almost everyone else that I know. As long as we continue to do so, this country's leaders will continue to reflect the values of the electorate. Sometimes we lean Right and sometimes we lean Left - but the balance helps to keep us centered.
